Is Dad's Christmas Mission Possible?


Is the "Dadmission" just about making income for yourself? 


Well, without wanting to be accused of doing some serious "virtue signalling" the answer to that question is immediately yes then also a bit no.

Something that has always resonated strongly with me is the advice you get when you're on a plane in regards to oxygen masks.

"In the event of an emergency, oxygen masks, will drop from the ceiling.Please make sure to put your oxygen mask on first before helping anyone else with theirs."

I've always liked this,it's always made sense to me. If you're not in a strong enough position physically,emotionally and financially to support yourself then you can't support anyone else.
So yes the main reason I want to try and create passive incomes would be to give me all the time to do whatever I choose.

This "whatever I choose" is of course lot of things.It's more time with my kids.It's,who knows, being the 1st ukulele playing dad to get a UK Christmas number 1.Maybe, with a song like this 




It's having the freedom to sing happy birthday to total strangers online while I'm waiting for the kettle to boil.
It's becoming a brazilian jui jitsu legend. It's being swim fit enough to still pass the SLSGB Beach Lifeguard swim test (400 metres in 7.30 or less) This is horrid!

This list would also include and not just cos I want you to keep reading my blog, trying to help others. 
Be that the idea my 9 year old brazilian jui jitsu grey and white belted (1 up from white) daughter has about us one day going into schools to run anti bullying self defence classes.
Or perhaps having the time and energy to resurrect our Heroes Run event or something similar.A superhero fun run our charity ran for 12 years before handing it on to a great Brighton charity called RISE.

There is no such thing as an unselfish act?

A friend and I created a charity in 2004 called "Pass It On Africa". We managed and developed it until 2017 when small people started arriving into our lives and demanding things like food,shelter and our constant attention.

Along with my marriage,birth of our children and of course, getting a brazilian jui jitsu blue belt it's one of the things I'm most proud of. I also think entrepreneurship and philanthropy are two things that can actually work really effectively together.
Which is why today on my lunch break I quite spontaneously decided to set up a fundraising page.Okay that's enough shameless virtue signalling done. It's here in case you want to get involved, but no drama at all if not, you reading this is enough support.

If that's you, this blog is still largely about trying to turn the skills I learn't from The Brambila Method into a business but I thought the occasional mention about my trying to do something charitable,especially at a time of year where families are struggling to work out how to pay for Christmas isn't such a terrible thing.

I just thought it might be a good idea to mention my "Christmas dad mission" so in the unlikely event that anyone reads this or the even more unlikely event,someone has been reading my blog they are not completely thrown.

I hope you’re well and I was wondering if you might be in the market for a busking Santa playing ukulele parodies (clean and a bit out of tune) of Christmas songs at your Santa Dash this year on the 11th December 2021?

 I’m guessing your first response may well be a swift "Yeah no thanks!" But here’s a link to a song I did last year so you can see what I mean. I’m trying to raise some funds for local food banks etc and wondered if that might be cool to play some songs at the event?

If it was possible I was hoping that people might bring down a box of crackers or a some mince pies or something else Christmassy that I can then pass on to local Brighton and Hove food banks. I can see you have Rockinghorse as the charity so if it’s a conflict of interests no worries just thought it couldn’t hurt you to ask.

I got this idea while listening to a recent webinar of Adrian's of The Brambila Method fame.I'm trying to improve my blog writing skills to hopefully get more gigs,okay get a 6th gig,🤣 on Fiverr.

    The plan to financial freedom sounds simple! Brambila Method-At Least get off the sidelines and try!

     Is it possible? I mean really possible? Every time I go online I'm inundated with dubious offers from smug,white teethed types telling me how their course is going to be the answer to all my prayers. BUT Has anyone actually met or does anyone know someone who's completed an online course and is now living off the passive income from skills they acquired directly from it? For example,someone who at this very moment could be content in the knowledge that during their last leisurely visit to the toilet, they probably sold another 500 journals. The romantic in me says that anything is possible and I need to stop being cynical. The cynic in me says I need to grow up and get bin bags on the way home. So I suppose a reasonable question could be,who should I be listening to? I think I need to listen to both because I will probably need both at different times to succeed.
